“We are dedicated to your success.”

Roy Hanner, founder of Hanner Communications

Roy Hanner founded Hanner Communications in Bear Creek, North Carolina, on May 21, 2002. He built the company around the needs he kept seeing in churches, nonprofits and small businesses: practical technology help, delivered honestly and at a price small organizations can afford.

That work led to ChurchBooks3 in 2010, church accounting software written for volunteer treasurers rather than accountants, and to Milestone Growth in 2026, which brings his small business marketing experience into one growth portal. Roy still works directly with customers, and the company motto sums up how: “We are dedicated to your success.”

Why “Communications”?

Roy Hanner seated at a piano
Roy serves as a praise and worship leader, an expression of his faith that remains a large part of his life today.

The company name comes from a question Jesus asked two disciples walking the road to Emmaus after the crucifixion:

“What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?”Luke 24:17, King James Version

Jesus did not start by telling them who He was. He walked with them, asked a question, and listened while they explained what they believed had happened. Only then did He open the Scriptures to them (Luke 24:27). The full account is Luke 24:13–35.

That order, walking alongside people, asking and listening before offering answers, is the way Roy has tried to serve customers since 2002. Every product the company builds starts with listening to the people who will use it.
